GOP Carnage in Ohio

Ohio’s Senate President Bill Harris deliberately delayed the vote on HB347, the bill designed to fix Ohio’s concealed carry law, because he thought another Taft veto would further damage the Ohio GOP’s pro-gun image. Despite the expected veto, Ohio’s pro-gun movement all but begged Harris to push for passage of the bill prior to the November 7th election to show gun voters the GOP should no longer be perceived as weak on gun-rights.

 

Harris, however, refused to move the bill and his gambit clearly failed as Ohio Democrats were swept into office at the state and local level in unprecedented numbers. All the statewide races, except one, went to the Democrats. Even Betty “I will never be the candidate of the NRA” Montgomery, who consistently led challenger Marc Dann by double digits in the polls, fell on Election Day. Full Story »
